Terms of Reference (ToR)

Regional Technologist Engagement

1.Introduction

PePeKo Association, is seeking the services of a qualified and experienced Regional Technologist to assist in the development and improvement of new recipes for 15 companies. This initiative includes support for 5 startup companies in Kosovo.

2.Background

The Client recognizes the importance of innovation and product development in the food and beverage industry. To remain competitive and meet evolving consumer demands, PePeKo Association is keen to engage a Regional Technologist who can provide expertise in recipe development and improvement.

3.Objectives

The primary objectives of this engagement are as follows:

3.1. To work closely with 15 companies, including 5 startups, to develop and improve recipes for pickles, jams, marmalades and juices.

3.2. To enhance the taste, quality, nutritional value, and marketability of the products for mainly recipes for pickles, jams, marmalades and juices.

3.3. To provide technical guidance and support in sourcing quality ingredients and optimizing production processes. (recipes for pickles, jams, marmalades, juices),

3.4. To ensure compliance with relevant food safety and regulatory standards.

4.Scope of Work

4.1. The Regional Technologist will collaborate with the selected companies to:

a) Assess their current product offerings and recipe formulations.

b) Identify areas for improvement and innovation.

c) Develop and test new recipes, considering taste, texture, shelf-life, and cost-efficiency fot mainly recipes for pickles, jams, marmalades and juices.

d) Provide guidance on ingredient sourcing and supply chain management.

f) Ensure that the products meet all applicable food safety and quality standards.

e) Offer training and knowledge transfer to the companies’ teams.

4.2. The engagement will take place over a period of 20 days, with regular progress reports.

5.Qualifications and Experience

The Regional Technologist should possess the following qualifications and experience:

5.1. A degree in Food Science or a related field.

5.2. Proven experience in recipe development and improvement within the fruits and vegetable processing industry.

5.3. Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control standards.

5.4. Experience working with start-ups and established food companies.

5.5. Strong communication and training skills.

6. Deliverables

The Regional Technologist will be expected to deliver:

6.1. Improved recipes for the 15 companies, including detailed formulations and production instructions.

6.2. Reports on product development progress.

7. Submission Deadline:

Interested technologists should submit their CV and other documents no later than 9 February to info@pepeko.org

Candidates will be evaluated based on their qualifications, relevant experience, and proposed approach to the project.
